Mother and Activist Cherri Foytlin: Lessons From the Gulf Coast

Uncategorized,Why I am coming to DC — admin August 25, 2011 at 7:06 am

Among those arrested yesterday was Cherri Foytlin, who came to the ongoing sit-in at the White House to pressure President Obama to deny the permit for a massive new oil pipeline. Watch her powerful story:

A mother of six and the wife of an oil worker in Rayne, Louisiana, Foytlin walked from New Orleans to Washington D.C. last April to raise awareness about the BP spill. Now, she’s come to the capitol again to warn Americans of the danger the proposed Keystone XL pipeline poses to their land, water, and air.
“I’m to try and protect the people who are going to be affected by this pipeline, because we’ve seen how an oil spill can be devastating to a community. Our environment is not worth a few bucks and a few jobs here in the now.”
Since last Saturday, 275 people have been arrested at the White House in attempt to push President Obama to stand up to Big Oil and stop the proposed Keystone XL pipeline. The 1,700 mile pipeline would run from the Canadian tar sands to refineries in Texas.

I hear you Cherri! Please keep fighting… I know you will. The Earth Mother is being systematically killed, and I pledge my allegiance to her, and those who fight to protect her.

I would like to let all people know here that some things are just unacceptable – and that the Earth and people’s lives can no longer be sacrificed for this bizarre, soulless structure of “globalization” that we now have on the Planet.

Please keep in mind we are forming a new spiritually grounded organization that offers the way for prosperity and the well being of all – with HARM TO NONE – as our new planetary paradigm.

Here is our statement of purpose:

Cherri Foytlin, please contact us at the above website. I personally would like to host you and a group of fellow activists for a meal while you are in DC.

    Thank you.
